This year’s kit sign-up day was festive as ever! With a roster change and a fresh slate SEP was ready to serve teachers for the 2013-2014 school year. We also attempted to change up the way we have teachers sign up for workshops during the year. We made a Survey Monkey form for the teachers to fill out on a couple select iPads during their normal sign-up time. It was meant to be a good way for teachers waiting for their number to be called to fill some time. With SEP’s motive being a new, more easily managed way to catalog and get a trial run started on how we can start integrating iPads into our normal yearly activities.
Unfortunately, this didn’t work out as well as we had hoped. I was preoccupied with shooting teacher interviews highlighting what great work SEP does for Northwest science teachers. As a result, many of the teachers didn’t know where to sign up electronically. The ones who did were very confused as to which survey to pick and some of the dates were screwy.
I attempted to rectify this by making an email with updated links to new correctly updated surveys but these were also too confusing as many teachers were signing up twice and unclear as to if they had even submitted a response. Next year we will have to reevaluate and spend more time on a strategy as how to better serve out these workshop sign-ups. I’m determined to make them work simply and correctly.
