Judy Shaw’s biology classes at Auburn Riverside High School were tasked with creating a poster to present in front of the class. Each poster would use one type of cell: animal, plant, or bacteria.
To help with this, I brought all of 20 of our iPads to aid the students in studying and gather materials for their posters. The students were split up into pre-made groups and each group got two or three iPads. They used the apps iCell and Cell & Cell Structure to help guide them in naming all of the parts.
This is the same lesson that she had done last year and this year there were some minor improvements in the logistics of how the iPads were distributed and which apps worked best for their project. The majority of the students were on task and worked well with the technology despite it almost being so close to their holiday break!
